Shiba Inu Fanciers of Northern California
The Shiba Inu Fanciers of Northern Calif. was formed in April of 1998, with 29 charter members. It has since grown over the years to a record 82 members and a current roster of 64 members. The Club holds monthly meetings, and all members are encouraged to attend. The Club has two classifications of membership – regular and associate. Regular is for active members who frequently attend meetings and wish to participate in the planning and execution of club functions. Regular members are expected to attend meetings and they are eligible to vote and hold office. Associate members have all the privileges of regular members, such as access to the “members only” section of the website and notification of all events, but they may not vote or hold office.
The SFNC has sponsored and participated in many different activities. This includes hosting the Annual Shiba Parties for the last 29 years, manning an educational booth at the Cupertino Cherry Blossom Festival for the last 20 years, providing public education at the Cow Palace benched show for the last 21 years and participating in the San Francisco Cherry Blossom Festival parade. The SFNC has its own website (www.sfnc.org.), and Facebook page. Within them is information relating to the club and activities.
The SFNC is an AKC-licensed club, and has held 21 independent AKC Regional Specialties. In 2019, there will be two shows on May 17 & 18 at the Solano County Fairgrounds in Vallejo. This year marks the 30th Anniversary of the “Shiba Party”. We hope it will be special. It marks 30 years of dedication and perseverance of the Shiba community to the dogs they love. We will again feature the rescue dogs, the dedicated people who save them, and the new owners who open their hearts and homes to these wonderful Shibas. Last year there were over 200 Shibas and 400 people in attendance. Watch the website and Facebook page for additional information
