Ami Wada
Ami Wada has devoted almost a lifetime to Japanese brush painting in the Sumi-e style and is well recognized for her work in the Bay Area. She has spent over 30 years teaching Japanese brush painting. Ami was born in Yokohama, Japan. After graduating from Yamate Gakuen College she attended Azuma Art School.
In Japan, she participated in a nationwide painting competition and was awarded “Best of Show.” Subsequently, her paintings were shown in Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka along with paintings of other ranking artists. Over the years Ami has displayed her paintings at Stanford University, Nieman Marcus, Gumps, and galleries in San Francisco, Carmel and Napa Valley.
This well known Japanese brush painter is very active in community and cultural events in the bay area. Ami has helped organize cul tural exhibits for the Cupertino Cherry Blossom Festival, as well as designing the Cherry Blossom Festival logo.
